Building Inspection of Florida

About Us

Andrew Haverland moved his wife and three daughters from the cold north to Florida in 1990. He began his home inspection business at the same time. His background in building contracting made it a natural fit.

He qualified to become a member of the Florida Association of Building Inspectors and later also joined the prestigious American Society of Home Inspectors. In 2001 he began offering air sampling for mold in conjunction with his home inspections and in the spring of 2004 added an infrared thermal camera to his tool bag. This camera literally saved his clients millions of dollars during the very active 2004 hurricane season.

He has used his experience in performing 9,000 home inspections to write a large number of local newspaper articles on subjects of interest to homeowners. Many of those are now posted on his blog.

His wife of twenty eight years, Donna, coordinates the office and books his appointments. When you call, Donna will greet you and guide you through the home inspection process.

Licensing and Qualifications

Charlotte County is one of the few counties in the state of Florida to require licensing for home inspectors. The county requires a high passing score on the National Home Inspector's Exam, evidence of inspection experience, insurance coverage and financial stability. We are Charlotte County licensed and members of both ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors) and FABI (Florida Association of Building Inspectors). We have performed over 9000 full home inspections since 1990.
